After visiting family in West Virginia, Jeff and I explored Ryerson, Hillman, and Raccoon Creek State Parks. Ryerson and Hillman didn’t have incredibly a lot to offer, but they were still fun to visit and get our state stamps for our Pennsylvania State Park Book.
Along our adventure, we found Frankfort Mineral Springs. After a small hike, we came across a small waterfall where you could drink the mineral water. It was very cold and very iron-y.
We had lunch in a picnic area where I warmed up cajun chicken pasta. It was nice to have a real meal midday. As we were leaving, a park ranger drove past, stopped, and started walking toward the van. As she got closer, I realized I knew her, and she recognized me, and wanted to say hi! She and I had gone to middle school together! I hadn’t seen her in a decade! It was so funny running into her! I couldn’t believe she recognized me after all those years. We explained that we thought about finding a spot to camp for the night, but she said that the campsites were overcrowded and rowdy for Memorial Day weekend, and that it would be best to camp another weekend.
We visited the little beach area within Raccoon Creek State Park before going home to my in-laws for fried chicken.
It was a quick trip but fun!
